 Nervous Patients

Our time is your time! Dr Sutcliffe understands how a nervous patient feels and believes the pace at which the treatment is carried out should be dictated by you.

By gaining your confidence and trust, your treatment can be carried out with little worry, stress or anxiety.

Dr Sutcliffe works alongside the well known psychologist Dr Gerard Burrell Hodgson in reducing any stress and anxiety you may feel about your dental treatment. He also works closely with acupuncturists, homeopaths and naturopaths to offer you services that best suit your requirements. If any of the above would make your visit more comfortable then this can be arranged for you.

    What else can help?

If you are very nervous about treatment we can give you medication that puts you into a relaxed dream-like state beforehand. Oral Midazolam provides a safe alternative to nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation and general anaesthesia

    How does relaxation work?

When we are faced with a challenge or something we’re afraid of, such as a visit to the dentist, our bodies produce substances, which raise our anxiety. However, we can train our bodies to work against this anxiety, by learning to relax. It’s not possible to be anxious and relaxed at the same time, so learning relaxation helps control our anxiety.
